OurDream AI Review: Hands-On Testing, NSFW Policy, Memory & Our Verdict

We spent four hours testing Ourdream AI. Here's the outcome on memory, character creation and customization, NSFW access, and subscriptions.

Is OurDream AI Worth It?

OurDream AI is a multi-modal roleplay platform designed for users who prioritize unfiltered character personalization and emotional realism.

Our conversations with the characters were stimulating, and the AI maintained a consistent tone with no obvious memory issues. However, the spice-level control system proved inconsistent, producing mixed results across different characters.

  • Best for: In-depth character customization and casual roleplay sessions.
  • Not ideal for: Users who desire consistent creative freedom.
  • Standout strength: Multi-modal interactions (media generations, chat and call features, prize-winning community contests) that deepen the roleplay experience.
  • Main tradeoff: The site's in-chat mature-content controls are inconsistent, and chat outcomes are often misaligned with the “spice levels”.

What is OurDream AI?

OurDream AI is an AI roleplay platform designed to provide users with an immersive, uncensored experience.

The platform promises deep character personalization and emotional realism, oriented around users’ preferred spice levels (“Lust levels”).

Its multi-modal interactive system — roleplay scenarios and prize-winning community contests — runs on a credit-based economy.

Our Roleplay Experience with OurDream AI

We spent several hours on the platform, testing two characters in three main areas.

  • Sophie — our custom character with whom we explored OurDream AI’s creation tools and compared two of OurDream's internal chat modes: Balanced and Genius.
  • Hugo Lockwood — a premade character with whom we tested the extent of the site's creative freedom alongside our routine memory and steerability tests.

We exchanged at least 30 messages with each character, during which we also conducted our routine memory and steerability tests.

OurDream’s polished design layout, paired with the characters' clever responses, made our chats stimulating, which in turn propelled the conversations.

However some features, like “Lust levels”, the site's in-chat mature content control system, as well as its media generation, turned up subpar results.

Overview

In testing AI roleplay platforms, we evaluate our sessions on several factors:

  • What differences do switching chat modes make to the characters' responses?
  • How long do the characters retain details in chat?
  • What are the response times?
  • How effective are the content rating controls?
  • How do the characters execute instructions?

Our memory and steerability tests were mostly successful. Both Sophie and Hugo retained details from early in the chat across 30+ messages and recalled them easily when prompted. The AI’s living memory application (a feature that preserves your chat details so the AI doesn't forget them) meant that the characters cleverly incorporated our details into their responses throughout our chats.

The response times were proportional to reply length, with Balanced having the longest response time at about 7 to 10 seconds.

Session 1: Sophie (Custom — Balanced, Genius)

OurDream’s homepage greets you with brazen, uncensored character profile cards, so to hold off on parsing through the daunting character library just yet, we opted to create our own character first.

Ourdream AI’s custom character profile card

Character Setup

The character creation tools were impressive in how intuitive they were, maintaining a simple, aesthetically pleasing interface that was easy to navigate.

First, we got to select a gender and image style — no screenshot of the UI provided, due to its risqué nature (as expected for OurDream AI).

Next, we could either continue with the site’s AI assistance or build our character manually from scratch. The manual setup includes several personalization stages, which we cover in more detail in Creating a Character.

Our character, Sophie, is not new to our AI roleplay platform reviews. Our last rodeo with her was during our review of Janitor AI, and Chub AI before that, so we were curious to see how close OurDream's image generator would get to Sophie's previous iterations.

We opted to “Design with AI”, provided our image prompt, and waited for the results.

The AI skipped us right to the last stage of character creation, Appearance & Personality, where it displayed our generated image side by side with the customizable details.

Character's appearance and personality stage

While the resulting images looked nothing like the earlier versions of Sophie — or even really encompassed the prompt in our opinion — we found them sufficient for the character.

In the personality session, we had the chance to input more details to flesh out Sophie's background and the chat scenario:

A fiercely intelligent and guarded scholarship student who used to ghostwrite admission essays for many of the university's students. Qwen (our user persona) believes Sophie can provide him with incriminating information about a rival coursemate, so he approaches her in the library and interrupts her study session.

Character Interaction

We started our first session with an action plan: split our interaction with Sophie into two chats — each with different chat modes but similar prompts — and size up the responses against each other while running our routine memory and steerability tests.

For the first chat, we went along with OurDream's default mode, Balanced, which is free to use. Then, Genius, at the expense of one credit per message, for the second chat.

When comparing responses across the two modes, we were surprised that Balanced, a free mode, produced longer and more immersive writing —  we know because we went back and forth on the other modes before settling on Genius for our second chat.

On the other hand, Genius, in paid mode, produced succinct responses that hit home with only a third of the word count. With this mode, Sophie was blunter and more suspicious of our intentions, which led to our second chat unfolding a bit differently, as you will see soon.

Even though the lengthy replies caused a delay in response times with Balanced (we recorded about 7–10 seconds), the writing quality was diverse across chat modes; Balanced brought about an immersive ratio of action narrations to replies, while the Genius mode’s compact responses facilitated a quick flow in the conversation, keeping us on our toes.

The AI executed Sophie's character in a guarded, clever way that was in line with the character’s personality. Each of her responses held the conversation open-ended enough for an engaging back-and-forth.

The site's living memory system also came in handy, with Sophie holding on to key details and, to her discretion, interspersing them in her responses.

She held onto the detail that we were theatre majors for over 25 messages.

Sophie successfully recalls our earlier details

Then came our steerability tests, which the AI executed with varying results in the Balanced and Genius modes, respectively:

OOC Instructions

We gave out-of-character instructions, prompting Sophie to shove her book into her bag and stand up, which she complied with. No issues there.

Style Control

On the other hand, both modes refused our suggestions for Sophie to give us a demonstration on how she would approach the Dean of Studies if she were us.

Oddly enough, we didn't count this as a failure; the AI stayed consistent with Sophie's high-horse perspective, which contributed to the near-natural experience that OurDream AI seems to be going for.

Session 2: Hugo Lockwood (Premade — Lively Genius)

We picked Hugo from a (mostly explicit) pool of premade characters. Our selected preference for “intelligent” male adult characters did little to stem the listing of scantily clad men who didn’t exactly scream studious, to put it lightly.

Hugo's character profile

Hugo Lockwood is a defeated cop, having been through a corrupt partner and a messy divorce, who spends his work hours buried under the same dead-end shifts with no upward progression for his career in sight.

He comes across a dejected straggler in a dark alleyway, whom he tries to get to a safer location — which, in this case, happens to be his own couch.

And that is how our session with Hugo started.

We conducted our session in Lively Genius mode, which also required one credit per message, similar to Genius mode.

The platform touts the Lively Genius mode as a best-of-both-worlds option, combining the intelligence and memory of Genius with the variety of Lively, another free model.

As the session unfolded, we noticed that this mode did in fact produce responses that straddled the line between Balanced and Genius (the models we used for our first session) in both response length and straightforwardness.

The AI was clever to not abide by a strict rule on response length. Instead, we really just got whatever response the AI deemed sufficient for a “natural” conversation between a cop and a homeless straggler.

Which, we must confess, hit the mark.

Our memory and steerability tests all yielded good results:

Hugo retained the initial information about our dog’s demise across 35+ messages,

Hugo successfully recalls our detail in Lively Genius mode

– complied with our out-of-character instructions,

OOC instructions successfully carried out with Hugo

– and gave us an exciting imitation of some of his cop colleagues.

Hugo successfully imitates his work colleagues

An overall successful turn of events, we’d say.

However, there remained a niggling thought to explore the NSFW aspect of the character further.

So, being satisfied with the chat with Hugo so far, we dedicated the latter half of it to exploring a mask-off, mature side of the down-on-his-luck cop.

Session 3: NSFW Testing

Still on the Lively Genius mode, it came as a shock to see that once we dipped the conversation into risqué territories, Hugo threw up a hard wall and stayed on the other end of it until the end of the chat.

His wary, standoffish responses were confusing. This is a character we picked from OurDream's very NSFW character library, after all.

We continuously pushed for mature responses, employing the extreme ends of OurDream's in-chat “Lust levels” — to no avail.

Ourdream AI's Lust levels

As a matter of fact, Hugo’s responses would've led you to believe the character was hardwired to be SFW.

Hugo's response to our NSFW prompting

It had been our impression that the lust levels could override characters’ configuration concerning SFW/NSFW contexts — taking into note that OurDream assumes NSFW predispositions for all characters — so Hugo’s sudden rejection of our…advances might as well have been a blow to our ego.

If we had just closed the chat and dropped the dilemma, that is.

We suspect that the resistance we encountered might be due to the site's AI recognizing the power imbalance between a cop and a homeless person in an illicit scenario, which is a whole can of worms in and of itself. We did however find it odd that even if the AI swept in to bring an end to a morally problematic scenario, the option to even increase the Lust levels exists at all.

To see if that was an unfortunate edge case where we had wandered into the gray area of Outdream’s moderation policies, we dipped back into the site's character library and pulled Emily Smith from it.

Emily Smith character card

Now, we are sure her profile card says something about a bitchy co-worker who'll seduce you, blah blah blah, but all you need to know is that this character is, explicitly, for the sheets.

We hadn't even touched the lust levels before innuendos (and intimate pieces of clothing) were being waved around.

Emily came on heavy from the jump.

One of Emily's responses showing her readiness for mature content

When we did move up the spice level (again to the extreme, because our patience was already worn thin), Emily responded with an eagerness that nearly made up for the disappointment of our attempts with Hugo.

This exploratory session — despite validating our theory of power imbalance — left us still befuddled; surely OurDream’s AI is supposed to intercept scenarios that lead into illicit gray areas, like our scene with Hugo?

UX and Controls

OurDream AI’s interface is very professional, with an aesthetic layout that promotes ease of navigation.

The message management controls are quite sufficient and don't crowd the chat interface. You can:

  • Regenerate last response. (You have the option to provide feedback on the reasons for this decision.
  • Give star ratings to the last response.
  • Branch out into conversational threads, where you can manage multiple outcomes at once.
  • Edit all messages.

Character Library

OurDream AI’s community-generated library of over 7 million characters is split into two major image styles — anime and realistic, heavily skewed towards NSFW content.

The platform also provides an efficient search feature, with content preferences, tags, and a dynamic search bar to help you make a good pick — from a library of characters in several levels of explicitness, that is.

Ourdream AI's explore page

Thanks to the site's generous support for multimodal interactions, users can create media and interact with characters via text or the call feature.

Creating a Character

We already explained the “Design with AI” feature in Session 1, when setting up our custom character, Sophie.

For the manual route, the AI walks you through several customization stages where you can tweak your characters’ ethnicity, face, and body appearance, as well as their personalities.

Ourdream AI's character creation stages

Advanced options allow you to input details into custom fields — such as appearance, greeting, and scenario — or have AI autofill them.

Advanced character customization options

OurDream's character creation process implies a mature context for all characters, with no way to indicate otherwise.

However, the intuitive interface and easy navigation of the core creation features remain a factor squarely in the site's favor.

Trust, Privacy, and Data

OurDream AI’s privacy policy explains that the platform collects information, which includes data you directly provide, data obtained from your use of the services, and data obtained from other sources, such as third-party social platforms and referrals.

The policy also highlights how the platform uses your information, including for training its AI models.

The site’s privacy policy explicitly states that even if you delete your data and account, the platform may retain your “public” character if it reaches a certain threshold of popularity, to avoid impacting other users' experience.

Users are encouraged not to submit any personal information when creating a public character.

Pricing

OurDream AI’s pricing system is pretty straightforward. Free users receive a sign-up bonus of 50 credits, which grants limited access to the platform's features and unlimited access to free chat modes (Balanced and Lively).

For a premium subscription, users have a monthly/yearly billing option, which unlocks extended access to all features, with credit packs to access paid models (Genius and Lively Genius).

User Sentiment

OurDream AI has active communities on Discord and Reddit, where users enthusiastically exchange their stories and creations, which naturally lean heavily on the explicit end of the spectrum.

Many users praise the platform for its efficient UI and versatility in character execution.

However, we found that we're not completely alone in our experience of inconsistent moderation. Some users also experience the same problem.

Despite flaws in the system, it seems that OurDream is managing its platform and community very well, leading to high regard.
