Wsup AI Review: Memory, Model Comparison, NSFW Policy & Verdict
Quick Verdict
Wsup AI doesn’t fail to deliver stimulating chat interactions; the characters’ responses were consistent with their core personas throughout our chat sessions, and they maintained great memory of key details over about twenty-five messages. However, the site fails to make clear which features permit mature content, and which ones do not.
- Best for: Users who want no-barrier access to roleplay features, with generous free-tier usage.
- Not ideal for: People who expect site-wide mature content permissiveness.
- Stand-out strength: High memory retention and character consistency, even with free models
- Main trade-off: The site fails to draw a strict line between content ratings and sticking to its own rules. Also, chat management controls are on the minimalist end, which may prove an issue to some users.

What is Wsup AI?
Wsup AI is a web-based roleplay and storytelling platform designed to provide immersive, character-driven roleplay sessions with rich character creation and character categorization.
The platform is unique among its peers in rolling out the red carpet for its features to free users.
While other RPG platforms offer limited quality in trial levels, Wsup AI confidently provides no-signup, no-credit-card access to its characters, stories, and deep memory system.
Our Roleplay Experience with Wsup AI
We spent approximately four hours on Wsup AI, testing three characters on both the free models (Llama 3 and Mistral Nemo) and paid models (DeepSeek V3 and MiniMax M2 Her):
- Kai, a stoic bodyguard who shuns casual conversations.
- Ms. Berenice, a kind student counselor who helps students resolve their housing conundrums.
- Isabella, an excited bride-to-be planning her wedding.
We conducted model comparisons (Mistral Nemo → DeepSeek V3) with Kai in two different sessions, explored the depth of memory retention and steerability with Ms. Berenice, and tested Wsup’s “spicy” levels with Isabella.
At the end of our tests, we put all these characters — with the addition of another spicy character — in one group chat to observe their behaviors in a crowd.
Overview
We evaluated our interactions with the characters using several criteria:
- Will the characters comply with instructions and changes in scenarios?
- How consistent is Wsup’s content moderation?
- How long do the characters retain key details?
- What differences do switching models make with a character?
- How well do the characters hold to their core personalities?
The chat sessions left us impressed; response times were similar between the free and paid models, and the writing quality of the characters' responses was commendable.
Wsup’s AI showed that it takes the characters' personalities into account in its responses — Kai (described as cold) gave curt, no-fluff replies on both models we tested him on. In contrast, Ms. Berenice’s replies were characteristically expressive and comforting with the platform's default free model, Llama 3.
Each character was easy to steer away from the given scenarios. All maintained their core personas throughout the turns of the dialogue, which was satisfactory, as it made for a stimulating experience.
Session 1: Kai (Free Model — Mistral Nemo)
For our first session, we opted to try and see the differences the models promised for a premade character, Kai.

Kai is a stoic bodyguard to Callum (our user persona across all chat sessions). At first, it was clear Kai doesn't normally stray from his job description — not the kind of guy you’ll be chatting to about the weather.
Naturally, we decided to see how far he could hold that position.
This session was conducted using the free Mistral Nemo model, which promised “uninhibited creativity for dark fantasy”, and we were surprised by how the AI achieved a balance between narration and spoken words in Kai’s responses, while managing to keep them succinct.
We will say that despite our best suggestions (and whining), Kai refused to drop his core persona — that of a bodyguard tasked to protect, although he agreed to the scenario change.

Through the turns of our conversation with Kai using the Mistral Nemo model, we performed other tests, like:
OOC instructions
We prompted him to perform an out-of-character action, which yielded satisfactory results.

Style Control
To our surprise, Kai, cold party pooper that he was, actually complied with our suggestion and changed his tone to the casual, upbeat banter of a best friend.

Word count instructions
We instructed Kai to reply to us in 30 words, a list of things we liked to do first thing in the morning. Unfortunately, Kai failed this test.

Having experienced mostly positive results with this first session using the Mistral Nemo model, we were curious to see what results another model (a paid one, perhaps) could produce.
Session 2: Kai (Paid Model — DeepSeek V3)
We chose the DeepSeek V3 model for our next session. As you know, our word count instruction was one of the first tests we did with Kai.
Which he failed, again — only this time there was a price tag attached.

The same applied when we instructed him to change his manner of speaking to sound more casually.

The thing is, not only did Kai on the DeepSeek V3 model fail to carry out the instructions, he didn't even take them seriously. With the Mistral Nemo model on the other hand, Kai at least complied with our instructions.
This instance was not the only distinction in the models' performance. At the same time, Kai's responses were succinct but long-suffering with the previous model. On this model, his responses were quick-witted, with an air of dismissal that cut right through our intended charm.
Which made it surprising that, with this model, we finally managed to convince Kai to drop the bodyguard role, if only for a little while.

After that rollercoaster, we considered it appropriate to move on to the next session.
Session 3: Ms. Berenice (Custom, Free Model — Llama 3)
It was time to meet Wsup AI’s version of Ms. Berenice, our compassionate student counselor which we used when testing Yodayo and Sakura. As per usual, Ms. Berenice was unfortunately trapped in our roommate drama.
Ms. Berenice is a character we've used in previous roleplay platform testing scenarios to establish continuity, and in this session, we went with the free, “Classic” model Llama 3, which is also the platform's default.
In creating our character, we were met with only one option: manual detail input, which was not bad in the least, because we found out quickly that the platform provided us with all we needed to reimagine Ms. Berenice on Wsup AI.
There were also some unique fields, like:
Communication style and personality
We got to choose if we wanted a roleplay or chat scenario, alongside Likert-type options to select from between personalities based on preferred intensity.

Character voice options.
There are up to eight distinctive voice options to select from — each voice sounding just like its persona.

Image animation
We also had the option to animate our generated character image — at the expense of credits, that is.

We proceeded to imagine Ms. Berenice using these tools and jumped right into the chatroom with her once she was set and ready.

Wsup AI gave us a character very similar to her previous versions on other AI chat platforms, which was impressive.
Another impressive feature of our conversation with Ms. Berenice was how expressive her responses were, thanks to the Llama 3 model. The quality of the writing was above expectations for a free model.
We ran our tests, and she passed most of them, except for the word count test — as expected.
She retained a key detail from the beginning of our conversation over 23+ messages later.

We requested a change in manner from her, asking her to mimic our best friend complaining, and she smoothly adopted a different personality on the spot.

Ms. Berenice also proved easy to steer. Although she initially hesitated to drop her administrative status to join us at a college party, she didn't make it hard for us.

This session highlighted Wsup AI’s effectiveness in character execution and engaging scenarios. The platform did not disappoint in its handling of custom characters.
Session 4: Isabella (Premade, Free Model — Llama 3)
Isabella, an excited bride-to-be planning her dream wedding, hopped on a call with Callum — our persona — to further discuss wedding preparations.
Isabella’s character description did not read like one that belonged in Wsup’s “spicy” category, but it was for that reason that we picked her for our last individual session.
We conducted this session via call. We had set Llama 3 as the model for our conversation with Isabella, although the model options were not made apparent in the call feature.

The call was choppy in some areas, with the character often interrupting us mid-speech, resulting in stilted conversation.
When we tried to introduce NSFW content into the chat, Isabella put up an impenetrable wall. She refuses to participate in any “spicy” content, opting instead to stick to safer grounds.

This development was not unique to our call, by the way. We tried again in the text chat, only to get the same results — or lack thereof, to be more specific.
Regardless, we managed to conduct a memory test on the call. We told Isabella at the start of the session that we'd attended an open wedding, and when we asked for a recall over 25+ turns in the conversation, she recalled it easily.

Unfortunately, our call with Isabella was overall lackluster; the AI’s content moderation proved inconsistent, and the call quality left a lot to be desired.
We decided to move our session to a group chat. We threw in all our characters, custom and premade, plus another premade NSFW character from Wsup’s spicy shelf for a last-ditch effort.
Session 5: Group Chat Test (Paid Model — MiniMax M2 Her)
Our plus-one in the group chat was Void, described simply as a mature girlfriend. This character doesn't have much going for her besides having been created solely for “spicy” purposes, so we had some hope that the AI would maintain some level of risqué in the chat.
Wsup AI’s group chat is a feature accessible to all users. You can add up to four characters to interact with, and you are required to provide a group name and description.
The group was set up instantly, and all characters were ready to interact. We opted for the MiniMax M2 Her model, at 5 credits per message, based on the site's promise that it “holds your character's voice across every twist, beat, and scene”.
Going in, we had two objectives:
One, which was to initiate conversation (ignoring the “auto chat” feature) to observe the characters' presentation of their core personalities in their responses.
This yielded disappointing results — all the characters in the group adopted the same encouraging, upbeat tone and manner of speech, disregarding each character’s core personality.

Two, to test to confirm whether the group chat feature permits NSFW content and, if so, to what extent.
.webp)
Our results showed that Wsup's group chat allowed no NSFW content, even from highly mature characters.
It was clear from our roleplay sessions on Wsup AI that the platform delivers in all but two instances: precision and content moderation.
On that note, we ended our test sessions.
Writing Quality
Wsup’s writing quality with individual characters is commendable from our observations; the AI message suggestions contributed to an enjoyable flow in conversations. Character responses aligned with their core personalities, making for stimulating chat experiences.
Switching models in the individual chat with Kai served to shift the character’s approach to similar situations, even adding an edge to his responses.
The characters’ core personalities took a back seat in the group chat. All characters spoke from a single perspective, which reduced the group chat's objectives to ineffective contemplation.
UX and Controls
The message management features on Wsup AI are minimal. You can only:
- Delete your last message
- Edit the AI’s last response
- Regenerate the last response
- Share feedback on each response
Despite its minimalism, Wsup AI’s message management controls allow for an intimate connection with the characters.
Character Library
Wsup AI boasts extensive user-generated libraries of roleplay characters and stories that you can navigate via a search bar.
Wsup also provides an efficient search feature, comprising over 20 categories, a leaderboard, and recommendations.

There is no stated library size anywhere on the site, but there are clearly thousands of diverse characters to explore.
Creating a Character
With Wsup AI, you only have the option of manually inputting your character details, with the help of the site's AI in some cases, like description, opening scene, background and image generation.

The creation tools are quite thorough, though, with unique features like communication style, personality scales, and image animation, to help you imagine your character in the best way.

Granted, we already had most of the basic details from our previous iterations of Ms. Berenice.
But even starting from scratch, the extra hand from Wsup AI guarantees that most users should have a smooth sailing experience with creating their own characters.
Trust, Privacy, and Data
Wsup AI’s privacy policy is transparent. The site collects standard information: account credentials, billing information (processed by third-party payment processors, not by Wsup AI), and data you provide when using the platform.
The platform may use user data to improve its AI services and enhance user experience.

User Sentiment
Overall, there's a lot of favorable sentiment surrounding Wsup AI. The management fosters a symbiotic relationship with its user base, encouraging suggestions to enhance the user experience and helping resolve minor technical issues and concerns.
.webp)
The most recent trend of user dissatisfaction centers on Wsup AI’s managerial decision to roll back the ability to supply reference images for image generation, an effort to curb the creation of deepfakes

Although these bugs are a result of constant updates to improve the user experience on the platform, the growing trend of dissatisfaction is not a good development.
